How MARVEL will replace Sir CHADWICK BOSEMAN's Black Panther
have thought about this in detail after re-watching the movie after Chadwick’s death recently…and here is what I came up with.
Yes. Killmonger is dead. But what if (pun intended for the Marvel Disney+ series coming soon) T’Challa and Shuri took his body and healed him much in the same manner they did with Bucky Barnes?
When the time would come to wake him up being healed from the death strike at the end of BP…Erik could ask where T’Challa was and why did they go against his wishes not to be healed.
Shuri could simply say her brother saw the good in him and wanted to give him another chance to redeem himself instead of ending up like his ancestors at the bottom of the ocean. They would not lock him up but it would be explained that T’Challa has passed on to the ancestral plane after an unfortunate sickness that claimed his life.
It could be explained that T’Challa wanted Erik - not Killmonger - to rise to the throne and lead Wakanda as rightful king and heir apparent. This would get Michael B. Jordan back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe without having to give him another character to play and would essentially solve the problem of having to recast the role of T’Challa and getting fans of Chadwick upset.
After all, Erik’s father did promise to show him Wakanda one day and T’Challa did something that Erik’s father failed to do - show him Wakanda in all its magnificent glory…and ultimately give the kingdom to him to rule.
That would be way more acceptable and open to BP fans in my humble opinion.
