Yes…he's plot level intelligent. He's literally broken the 2nd law of thermodynamics and somehow managed to create an essentially infinite power source the size of your palm…in reality that would melt itself within seconds (probably less) because of heat. This isn't even talking about his armor….just the arc reactor.
That alone would be a global game-changer and energy companies would fight tooth and nail trying to find a reason it shouldn't be used *cough* palladium poisoning *cough*.
His armour, on the other hand, is also ridiculous…it's awesome…but ridiculous: Newton's 3rd law - Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
Tony's been slammed, blown up, shot, crushed, and strained beyond belief in his various armours and NEVER feels anything…yeah no…he'd be jelly inside there within the first film when he's hit by a tank shell. The G force change he'd experience would be so great he'd be a pulp. Yes, the armour would be fine…but again unless he's got plot level inertial dampeners in his suit… (it was never exposited) he'd be dead.
